The
Collector's Series
We
have been following this firm’s Collector’s Series of auctions
for three years now and have come to expect the highest standards in
all the material they offer. This sale was no exception. It contained
excellent U.S., Canadian and worldwide material. The Canadian section
was described as follows:
“A
highly desirable offering, highlighted by two private collections -
one being a specialized collection of Large and Small Queens and the
other featuring stamps of an exceptional quality”
Our
viewers may have noted the reduction in prices realized at Canadian
stamp auctions since last September. Not so in this sale. The prices
were generally strong with 27 new record prices. We were nicely surprised
and definitely impressed. We present below a small selection of stamps
from the sale.
The
prices realized in the sale were converted at the rate of $1.00 U.S.
= $1.22 Cdn.

Many of the above
stamps came from well known collections and in particular, the collection
of Dr. Choi-Lok Tang of Hong Kong. This
outstanding collection was offered by Charles Shreves in 2006 and resulted
at the time in an astounding 63 new record prices.
Outstanding U.S. stamps
Many of our viewers
collect stamps issued by the United States. It is not often we see the
stamps of that country offered in such a high quality. Here is a small
