The Michael Roberts' Collection

We had no idea when we first looked at the catalogue for this auction just how significant the results would be. When we received the report on the prices realized, we were amazed. As you will see below, record after record was broken as bidders drove prices through the roof. In the end, there were 57 new record prices, bringing Eastern’s total for 2006 to 96, more than any other auction house. For all the auction houses we cover, this brings the total of new record prices for 2006 to 266. The following statistics show how significant the year 2006 has been:

The collection was beautifully presented and described in the Eastern catalogue. It must have been a labor of love as the collection contained some of the finest examples of Canadian philately in its pages with strength throughout. While we focus primarily on single stamps on our website, we couldn’t help but notice the many scarce multiples in the collection that sold well.
