Not
many collectors are able to say that they have a stamp in their
collection that would sell for over $1,000, but in the past year
we have counted 45 stamps that have passed this mark for the first
time. We would like to share with you the results of a recent study
we made in which the following stamps sold at auction in recent
months for more than $1,000 for the first time:

Conclusion
It
certainly doesn’t come as a surprise that such a large number
of stamps have crossed over the $1,000 threshold. Our viewers should
be aware that only stamps that are of the very finest quality attract
these high prices. Stamps of more ordinary quality might not sell
for even half of the above. Thus, quality is everything, but where
it exists, there is great demand for it and, in this market, this
demand will continue to push prices up.
Some people who have been around for awhile might consider these
prices to be totally unreasonable. All we can say in reply is that
the market is recognizing that there are very few really outstanding
copies of Canada’s early stamps available and so long as there
is great demand, prices will continue to rise until that demand
is satisfied. We don’t seem to be quite there yet.
